INEC writes Buhari over N23 billion ‘bribe’ involving former RECs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has written the presidency for further action on six of its former personnel involved in alleged N23 billion election bribe.

They include one of its retired National Commissioner, and five Resident Electoral Commissioners.


Malabu Oil Asks Court to Stop FG from Signing FID on $13.5bn Oil Project

In a bid to protect its stake in the disputed Oil Prospecting Licence (OPL) 245, Malubu Oil and Gas Limited on Tuesday approached a Federal High Court in Abuja for an order of the court preventing the federal government, Shell Nigeria Ultra-Deep Limited, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited and Nigerian Agip Exploration Company Limited from signing the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the $13.5 billion Zabazaba deepwater project.


Magu to remain acting EFCC Chairman as Presidency declares ‘full support’ for anti-corruption chief

The presidency on Tuesday gave the clearest indication yet that it would not succumb to the Senate and remove Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the anti-graft EFCC.

The Senate recently refused to screen presidential nominees for the position of the resident electoral commissioners, saying it would not do so until Mr. Magu is removed as Acting EFCC Chairman. The Senate had twice rejected the president’s request to confirm Mr. Magu.


Udoma: FG to Release Implementation Roadmap for Economic Recovery Plan

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, has disclosed that the implementation roadmap for the National Economic Revovery and Growth Plan (NERG) is in the works and would soon be released.

Udoma said the implementation roadmap, which would provide  more detailed strategies, timelines and derivables of the plan on a year-by-year basis, is being put together a team of experts who are working with officials of his ministry in collaboration with officials of other  ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

FG Promises to Sustain Anti-corruption War Despite Recent Setbacks

Despite the string of losses suffered at the courts recently, the federal government has said it will not be deterred by the recent setbacks in the war against corruption and has also called on Nigerians to adopt the same spirit in the crusade against graft.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said government would seek redress against all rulings at the Court of Appeal.


‘Missing’ Petrol Scandal: Four NNPC top officials get letters of compulsory retirement

Four top officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, on Tuesday received their letters directing them to proceed on compulsory retirement over the missing petrol scandal, multiple sources told PREMIUM TIMES.

On Monday, PREMIUM TIMES published an exclusive report that the Managing Director of the NNPC Retail, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, and three other top officials were asked to resign their appointment.


Abuja Airport Runway Repairs 96% Completed

The Minister of State, Aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika, has said the repair of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, runway has attained 96 per cent completion.
Sirika stated this when he visited the site yesterday, one week ahead the proposed reopening of the airport.

He said the work which commenced from runway 04 had progressed to runway 22, adding the laying of asphalt had been completed.


Again, whistle-blower leads EFCC to suspected stolen N4 billion

A whistle blower on Tuesday led the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to N4 billion suspected to be proceeds of corruption.

The commission disclosed this in a message sent to the media on Tuesday evening.

However, EFCC did not state where and how the latest discovery was made.

Dogara Releases Six-month Pay Slips, Urges El-Rufai to Publish Actual Security Spending

The Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday directed the House spokesman, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, to release his pay slip for the past six months for public scrutiny.

Speaking with journalists at a media briefing, Namdas said he was directed to publish the Speaker’s pay slip in the spirit of transparency from October 2016 to March 2017.
