Make your health status public, douse tension, NMA tells President

Amidst growing concerns on the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari, the President’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, on Thursday, disclosed that the President would go on another medical vacation.

She however said the ailing Nigerian leader would not do so by being hounded by anyone.


Buhari Meets Emefiele, Pleased With Stability in Forex Market

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, thursday revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari is satisfied with the stability in the foreign exchange (FX) market, following the sustained intervention by the central bank.

Emefiele made this disclosure at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while fielding questions from journalists after a closed-door meeting with the president.


Nigerien President’s visit to Buhari postponed‎ indefinitely

The visit of President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger Republic to President Muhammadu Buhari scheduled for Friday has been postponed indefinitely.

The rescheduling, according to a statement by Mr. Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, late on Thursday is at the instance of Mr. Issoufou who has another domestic engagement.


N200bn unpaid salaries: Federal civil servants threaten indefinite strike

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has threatened to embark on an indefinite strike to protest the non-payment of their N200bn promotion and salaries and death benefits.

The National Executive Council of the ASCSN, which took the decision during its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, also decided to picket the Ministry of Finance and the Budget Office, which the workers believed were subverting the express directives of the President to release funds to pay several arrears owed them.

Lawyer to Nigeria’s ex-military chief fled to Dubai with incriminating documents, Witness tells court

A prosecution witness in the trial of a former Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Alex Badeh, has revealed how a lawyer to the former CDS absconded to Dubai with title documents of various properties allegedly procured with monies removed from the accounts of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, between January and December, 2013.

The witness, Nuhu Dalhatu, made this disclosure on May 3 while being cross-examined by Lasun Sanusi, who held brief for Mr. Badeh’s counsel, Akin Olujimi, before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.


2019: Only God and Buhari can determine my fate — El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has declared that his fate in the 2019 elections lies with God and President Muhammad Buhari.

According to a Tribune report, El-Rufai spoke on Wednesday on a special phone-in radio programme in Kaduna to mark his two years in office.

He said, “If the president comes and meet me and said I want you to re-contest or otherwise, I have no option than to obey his command.


UTME: JAMB rakes in N8.5bn from form sale

As registration for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination closes tomorrow (Friday), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that an unprecedented number of 1.7m candidates registered for the examination.

The Head of Information, JAMB, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, who said that the number of registered candidates have “never been recorded in the history of the board’’, however, noted that JAMB had put in place adequate facilities to accommodate the upsurge in the number of candidates.


Adeosun: FG Will Spend on Infrastructure to Exit Recession

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun has said the federal government plans to boost agricultural production and spend billions of dollars upgrading dilapidated infrastructure that will help drag Africa’s top oil producer out of recession this year.

Low oil prices plunged the West African nation into its worst economic crisis in 25 years with output, contracting by 1.5 per cent last year.

The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, on Thursday said the era of using governors as “punching bags’’ to score cheap political points in the country was over.
